fischer sponsoring a DTM team More emotion for the fischer brand: this year fischer group of companies sponsors a racing team of the German Touring Car Masters (DTM). At this year’s first race at the Hockenheim Ring, the fischer brand logo showed prominently on the winning car of Briton Gary Paffett of the Salzgitter AMG Mercedes team.
End of April and the racing season went off to a flying start at the Hockenheim Ring – with 18 drivers in total, nine with Mercedes and nine with Audi. Also one of the party: Gary Paffett, DTM winner 2005 and last year’s second-placed in his Salzgitter AMG Mercedes which prominently displayed the fischer corporate logo at its rear side panel. The 29 year old Briton went off to a dream start this season: winning ahead of Bruno Spengler, Jamie Green and Paul Di Resta who made Mercedes’ quadruple victory perfect. The winner was overjoyed: “It’s unbelievable. First the pole position, and then first across the finishing line – a perfect weekend for Mercedes-Benz and for me”. And for the fischer brand, featured on the victory rostrum after the first DTM race.
Brand awareness and brand sympathy are important factors when it comes to marketing and selling products. This is why fischer decided to sponsor the DTM racing series, with ten races during the season reaching around half a billion people in 51 countries worldwide and attracting on average about 70,000 spectators to watch the races at the trackside. Motor racing is one of the most popular TV sports after football – where fischer already advertise in football grounds during international and DFB cup matches. Motor sport is highly popular particularly among most important target groups for fischer, craftsmen and DIY home improvers, but also among the customer of the fischer automotive systems division. The DTM is therefore the ideal platform to address this target group.
The international character of this racing series also fits in well with the international position of the fischer group of companies, operating with 33 of its own national companies in 30 countries worldwide. Four of this year’s ten DTM races are held in countries where fischer has important national companies: in the Netherlands (Zandvoort), Great Britain (Brands Hatch), China (Shanghai) and soon at the next race on 23 May in Spain (Valencia).
